Boys’ Brigade | Girls’ Brigade | 2017/18
With the summer holidays coming to an end, it won’t be long until the church’s weeknight program is back in full swing. That means that the Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Brigade will be starting again soon and many of you have been asking how to enrol your kids these organisations. All the necessary details are found below –
Girls’ Brigade
Girls’ Brigade will begin on Monday 4th September. Explorers (3-8yrs) will meet from 6.30pm – 7.30pm. To join the Explorers, Girls must be 3 years old by 1st July. The Company section (8-18yrs) meets from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Registration will take place on the first night so please come along.
Boys’ Brigade
To register for Boys’ Brigade all you need to do come along on the first night. The first meeting will be on Thursday 14th September from 6:45pm – 7:45pm in the church hall.

Tearfund Walk
2017 walk is a great success!
Our sponsored 5K walk in May 2017 raised £25,300! A huge thank you to all who walked, sponsored and helped. Our biggest participating group was Cullybackey College, whose pupils raised an astonishing £4,355 – they are pictured below queuing for their well-deserved hot dogs.
Nikita in Nepal
After spending the last four years studying primary teaching, Nikita has set off for Nepal to help educate and support young children of missionary families from all over the world.
Follow Nikita’s journey as she blogs about her time in Kathmandu and pray for her as she serves God through her professional skills and applies her faith to life in a community that needs God.
No valley’s too low (Kathmandu), nor mountain too high (Everest) to escape the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord! This is such a special promise we can read in God’s word in Romans 8v39.

Over the winter I have been enjoying the gentle game of bowls at the Men’s Fellowship on a Tuesday night. While it may appear too sedate for some, I can assure you that it is a game of some skill. You never quite know where your ‘perfectly delivered’ bowl will end up. The aim of the game is to finish close to the jack. An errant bowl can, however easily wander off the mat, pull up short, or roll on past the jack. It may even hit an obstacle on its way. Even worse is when you are close to the jack and you get a nudge – or a whack – from your opponent’s bowl.
Life as a Christian is a bit like a game of bowls. We have the aim of staying close to Jesus but sometimes we can ‘wander off the mat’, or hit obstacles as try to live our lives without Him. We may go too far or even pull up short and let others deflect us from our path. While we all have to contend with many issues in life, there is one constant, Jesus. He stands, His hand outstretched, offering us rest and bringing us peace!
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41 v 10

Holiday Bible Club 2017

Wellington Holiday Bible Club is Back!
Holiday Bible Club is running this year from 12th – 15th June and is open to all kids from P1 – P7.
Online registration for the Holiday Bible Club has now closed but you’re still more than welcome to join us every night from 12th – 15th June from 6:30pm-8:00pm

We have been challenged by Alistair over the past few months to develop as a ‘Close to Home’ congregation. While it is easy to consider ourselves as part of our own family, we must also appreciate the bigger family to which we belong. That of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. God has made promises that He will be faithful to us, promises that He will be our God and that we will be His people. We must realise the depth of the meaning of this. As brothers and sisters in Christ, part of His family on earth, we must learn to love each other as Jesus loved us. We are to be content in every circumstance and realise we have each been placed exactly where He wants us to be. In His plan all are equal, even though we may be quite diverse in many ways. Let us, then, develop a nature aimed at encouraging, nurturing and building each other up. Always remembering that He dwells among us and that we are part of His people.
Some contributors to this magazine have openly discussed very personal issues in their lives. We thank them for their willingness to share so candidly with us. As a ‘Close to Home’ congregation our responsibility is to stand with them, offer our support and show our love, understanding and care.

Easter At Wellington
“Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.”
Luke 24:5-7
2000 years ago Jesus, God’s own son, came to earth. He brought a message of love and taught people to serve others in all they do. This revolutionary message undermined the authorities and religious leaders of the time, so he was arrested and executed in the most painful way imaginable, crucifixion.
Jesus’ body was removed from the cross and his body put in a tomb. Three days later, on Easter Sunday, the stone of the tomb rolled away and Jesus rose from the dead, inviting all people to participate in God’s life offered freely. For Jesus Christ did for us that which we could not do for ourselves.
That’s it. A simple story of hope. Because Jesus died for all the unGod-like things we have done, we can be forgiven. We can all start anew and hope is offered for all!

Aimee’s Adventures
As many of you may know by now God is sending me to Taipei in January to work with Envision. As a ministry of the C&MA, Envision identifies and develops future missional leaders who innovate, establish, and strengthen communities of faith in key urban environments. I will be working alongside them for 2 months and then flying to the Philippines to work with Helping Hands, Healing Hearts for 3 months. The ministry began in 2001 in response to the needs of sick Filipino children. As a volunteer I will be working with children in the Children’s Recovery Unit (CRU) and orphanage in Olongapo City.
I am beyond excited and scared at the same time but I know God is guiding me every step of the way… I will hopefully be uploading weekly posts and sharing how God is moving.
